Mrs. Nanda Kumari Khadka (second from the right) is newly elected president at Samaj Kalyan Aama Samuha (Mother Group) in Biruwa Rural Municipality. The meeting electing the new president was held on fourth day of Aswin 2080. Mrs. Dhana KC was the former president, who died of some enduring disease. The group has its own community building situated in ward number 01. No matter how passive the investment is, the owning of building symbolizes the strength and identification of the group.

The iron stair outside the building leads to an open hall upstairs. The building overlooks the promising, rusty, and sun baked gravel road that goes uphill. A large number of stakeholders have made voluntary contribution for the construction of the building and the temple, that always stands tall adjacent to it. The temple portrays an outstanding synthesis of community art and homage.

The group members are mostly house wives. They work at their farm and have limited access to finance. The group meets regularly, however, they do not collect monthly subscription and have common business to undertake. The management committee is reconstituted once in every 3 years. The operation of the group was entirely curtailed during Covid-19 pandemic.

‘The young members in the group are employed in private sector jobs. They prefer city to village. They pay a little attention to the affairs of the group. They never wish to bring members together to achieve real changes,’ Mrs. Nanda Kumari exclaimed. 'Mothers in nearby villages have been imparted a lot of trainings by the respective ward office, but we have been none’, she asserted further.
